Free things to do and see in warrnambool
  • Whale viewing between June and September at Logan’s Beach viewing platform.
  • Tower Hill state game reserve, extinct volcano, wildlife viewing and scenic walks a great place for the keen photographer.
  • Hopkins Falls, great photos all year around only 15 mins out of town at Wangoom.
  • Lake Pertobe is a family friendly park with playground fun for all ages they also have undercover BBQ facilities.
  • Thunder Point look out is a great place to catch a glimpse of the seals or on a rainy day why not try your luck at photography with some of the best coastal scenery in the area.
  • Shelly beach is accessed via a walking track from Thunder Point, a great beach to take the kids to.
  • If you prefer to travel on push bike there is a 37km bike trail that goes from Warrnambool to Port Fairy
  • The Heritage walk is a casual 3km stroll past Warrnambool’s most historic buildings. It is a self guided tour so you can go at your own pace.
  • You may like to walk or bike ride along the Promenade from Point Ritchie to the Break Water with scenic views along the way.
  • Fletcher Jones offers daily markets as well as beautiful surrounding gardens.
  • Mahogany ship walk from Levys beach off Gay St.
  • The Botanical Gardens are located on Botanic Rd, with BBQ facilities and plenty of water birds to feed.
  • Just 10 mins away is Allansford, you can spend your day enjoying cheese tastings at the cheese factory there’s also a museum as well.
  • Killarney beach is beautiful and only 18km drive west
    In the Summer there are markets by the sea at Lake Pertobe.
  • Childers cove beach is only a 20 minute drive and show-cases an amazing coastline that has been eroding away for millions of years.
  • Enjoy tastings of award winning wines at Rowans Lane Winery.
  • All fishing requires licences which are available at the reception desk. There are platforms located between Hopkins River Bridge and Jubilee Park. These have floating jetties which are accessible all through the year with car park facilities.
  • Located at the Dennington Boat Ramp is a floating jetty which is also accessible all year and has car park facilities.
THINGS TO DO IN WARRNAMBOOL FOR A FEE
  • Flagstaff Hill offers both day shows and a sound and laser show in the evening as well as exhibitions.
  • Beach trail rides are available every day, morning and afternoon with Rundells Mahogany trail rides.
  • If your after something a little faster why not go to Silver-ton Park Indoor Karts, they can also provide BBQ facilities by appointment.
  • Aqua zone is the indoor swimming centre in Warrnambool it boasts 4 heated pools, fully equipped gym, a program room and café.
  • Located down the bottom of Lake Pertobe is an 18 hole mini golf green and a jumping pillow for the kids.
  • Why not try your luck and have a bet on the greyhounds down at Warrnambool showgrounds or maybe you would prefer to watch horse racing at Warrnambool Racecourse home to the famous May Racing Carnival.
  • If cars are more your thing then Speedway is the place to go, with the occasional racing of the sprint cars.
  • If you love the outdoors why not go on a guided tour of tower hill, a beautiful haven for wildlife.
